Mother’s Day

Earth Day is really Mother’s Day. “Mother Earth Day” that is, and she needs our protection as much was we need hers.

 

Frankly, I am over trying to convince those who arrogantly deny that our environment is finite. That the human race is so blessed that we can ignorantly squander the garden because God will take care of us. It is impossible to rationalize that illogic while we foul Mother Earth with our waste, our laziness, our self love and our idiocy.

The election of President Trump may be the final insult. The last nail in our collective ecological coffin. Mr. Trump’s ugly macho denial (he thinks green is where you putt) coupled with his whopping self adoration and ability to lie at whim create a perfect storm of abominable leadership that will eventually end up with a lifeless planet. His appointment of Earth hater, oil pipeline lover, Scott Pruitt, as head of the EPA is a slap in our Mother’s face and an insult to all living things on the planet but it is right in line with the bulk of Mr. Trump’s Mad Magazine type appointments.

The Trump administration’s whacked-out agenda points to making problems instead of solving them so that Mr. Trump can take advantage of the distractions and obfuscations to acquire more power. Meanwhile, cut backs to regulations protecting our air, water and food sources appeases his base of support who seem to be almost totally totally entranced by Mr. Trumps incredible sales pitch. A majority of his supporters say that they would stick by Mr. Trump no matter what he did. That is the dictionary definition of a “cult” ladies and gentlemen and there is no other way to put it.

Saying that the seas are not rising due to melting glaciers is stupid and harmful. Saying that clear-cutting and burning forests is not causing a climate catastrophe is stupid and harmful. Saying that using dirty fuels, or that creating billions of tons of needless waste is not causing climate stress is stupid and harmful. Saying that spraying toxic substances on our food and dumping poisons in the air and sea is not killing the planet is stupid and harmful. The list goes on and on and on and that is a list that must be opposed with passion and vigor.
